Note: During the lockdown of the pandemic, the St. Thomas Choir kept singing. Check out the full choir playlist on St. Thomas YouTube Channel.
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
Psalm 98:4 (King James Bible)
Choir
Music enhances our worship by elevating our senses and providing an emotional connection to express our praise, love and thanksgiving to God. Our parish has been blessed to have an active choir of mixed male and female voices singing soprano, alto, tenor and bass since the mid-1950s. Interested in the Adult Choir? Contact us!
Choir Schedule
We sing at the 10:30 A.M. worship service. Everyone’s participation is encouraged, and for those who enjoy singing in smaller ensembles or solo, there are ample opportunities, especially during the summer months. We get together in the Sanctuary on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M., and Sundays at 9:45 A.M. for a practice before the 10:30 A.M. service.
Beginning June through early September, we take a break from our weekly rehearsals and offer a potpourri of vocal and instrumental music during worship. We also perform at special events such as the Saint Thomas Centennial and Santa Clara Valley Deanery concerts.
We often look to complement our worship experience with musical selections that include other instruments too, for example, flute, violin, trumpet and guitar. If you have a musical talent to share, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Choral Scholars
We are pleased to offer scholarships this year to two college students to participate in the expression and performance of choral music within the parish.
St. Thomas Concert Program
Our very talented accompanist, Benjamin Belew, is bursting with enthusiasm to share the joy of music. He is an accomplished piano player and composer. You will hear his work in special services, like Christmas and Easter, and in his concert series. The concerts are funded by freewill offerings, half of which is given to a concern of our church for our community, for example the victims of the Half Moon Bay shooting and Livable Sunnyvale (affordable housing).
