Adult Choir

Music enhances our worship by elevating our senses and providing an emotional connection to express our praise, love and thanksgiving to God. Our parish has been blessed to have an active choir of mixed male and female voices singing soprano, alto, tenor and bass since the mid-1950s. In recent years, we’ve ranged between 16 and 24 members.

We sing at the 10:30 A.M. Sunday service under the direction of Patricia Pietrzyk. Everyone’s participation is encouraged, and for those who enjoy singing in smaller ensembles or solo, there are ample opportunities, especially during the summer months.  Beginning June through early September, we take a break from our weekly rehearsals and offer a potpourri of vocal and instrumental music during worship. We also perform at special events such as the Saint Thomas Centennial and Santa Clara Valley Deanery concerts.

Choral Scholars

We are pleased to offer scholarships this year to two college students to participate in the expression and performance of choral music within the parish.

The first recipients beginning January 2015 are studying music at San Jose State University:

Jeremy Smith

A voice and composition major, Jeremy is studying under Professor Bengochea. He is a baritone and loves Classical and Romantic music and popular music from the 80’s. He is presently singing in a male a cappella group singing barbershop, and he recently sang in the 49-er Christmas choir.

Jose Mendiola

Majoring in voice performance, Jose is a bass baritone. He is a member of Opera San Jose and has sung with The Men Harmonics of Cupertino, The Chamber Singers of San Jose State, and The Symphony Silicon Valley Singers. Jose recently opened a studio for voice instruction in Los Gatos.
We are delighted to welcome these talented young men to our church!

Musicians

We often look to complement our worship experience with musical selections that include other instruments too, for example, flute, violin, trumpet and guitar. If you have a musical talent to share, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Our fun-loving group enjoys welcoming new singers and musicians. Drop by one of our weekly rehearsals and join in! We get together in the Sanctuary on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M., and Sundays at 9:45 A.M. for a practice before the 10:30 A.M. service.
