Psalm 23 (King James Bible)”23 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Located in a peaceful corner of the sanctuary, our columbarium provides a sacred space of quiet repose for departed loved ones who called Saint Thomas their parish home. Their cremated remains are safely inurned in a beautifully crafted structure of niches. Bronze front plates are engraved with their names. The comforting words of Psalm 23 are chiseled on the polished stone centerpiece, reminding us of God’s abiding presence. The columbarium area is screened off to provide privacy for anyone sitting in remembrance, contemplation and prayer.
Thanks to the vision and dedicated efforts of many parishioners, the idea for a columbarium first expressed in June 2000 came to fruition when the new facility was completed and dedicated on February 18, 2001. Some years later, when most of the niches in the original columbarium had been reserved, the Vestry approved the purchase of a second matching columbarium, which was installed adjacent to the first.
