Annual Meeting – Sunday, Jan. 26th

ANNUAL MEETING

Sunday, January 26th – immediately following worship service. See details below…

TRANSPARENCY ON FINANCES

In our desire to be good stewards of the gifts that have been pledged by our parishioners and to offer transparency into the church’s finances, we hold an annual meeting to share where we are at, and what the vestry has approved as our budget for the coming year.

WORSHIP SERVICE CHANGES

Due to the special Annual Meeting event, there will be a single-combined worship service at 10:30 am in the main sanctuary of the church.

The Annual Meeting will begin at the end of service and continue over in Cowans Hall after a brief intermission to dish up at the lunch buffet.

Please mark your calendars!

LUNCH IS ON!

Parish Event Planners (fondly known as PEP) will be serving deli-style sandwiches.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Plates, breads, sandwich fixings, and side dishes will be offered at the buffet table. As you enter, please take a plate, make your selections quickly and find a place to sit before assembling your sandwich.

Condiments will be provided on each of the tables along with the napkins and utensils. The meeting will continue in Cowans Hall after everyone has been seated.

During this time, the church financials will be presented and reviewed, most importantly the Annual Report for 2019 and the Budget for 2020.

YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUESTED

All parishioners are encouraged to attend this once-a-year gathering of the full membership to review these important fiscal reports, to meet the new vestry nominees, and along with the rest of the congregation, to participate in the ongoing life and mission of St. Thomas church. So, please join us!

To gain a greater appreciation of the vestry nominees, please check out their bios in the latest edition of St. Thomas’ Beyond a Doubt monthly newsletter.

COMMISSIONS & COMMITTEES

All materials for the Annual Report should be submitted to the parish office as soon as possible, and no later than January 17th.

Please bring your offerings to Cowans Hall prior to the meeting so we can stay on track so we can be good stewards of our time together!

Family Service (No Sunday School) – Nov. 3rd

FAMILY SERVICE

This Sunday, we are celebrating with a family service in the church at 10:30 AM in honor of All Saints Day in addition to our regularly scheduled early morning 8:00 am worship service.

Please mark your calendars, as there will be No Sunday School on November 3rd; classes will resume again the following Sunday, November 10th.

This is a time of sharing – considering what talents and gifts we may offer up to the Lord this coming year. At St. Thomas, we consider our gifts as a pledge of support for the spiritual and financial health, and well-being of the faith community.

STEWARDSHIP

In our mutual commitment as stewards, it is our prayer that we may welcome and extend grace, mercy and loving compassion to our neighbors mid-day Wednesdays and Sunday mornings, and provide hope beyond the church’s big red doors.

For more on Stewardship 2019, click on Shining Our Light image at the lower right-hand side of the home page.

You will be directed to a corresponding post – a letter from our Warden that shares more about this year’s theme.

FIRST-TIME VISITING

If you are visiting us for the first time, take your time to explore who we are as a faith community – we’re pleased to offer you our heartfelt welcome 🙂

If not sure where to go, please refer to the following link as a guide – Directions & Campus Map

NEW STUDENTS – FIRST VISIT

Hello Parents and Guardians – if this is your student’s first time with us, please arrive a few minutes early to register your child.

We follow safe church practices, so its important that we know who’s in attendance, have parents(s) or guardian(s) check children in-and-out, and provide us us with any important details including contact info in the event of an emergency. Teachers are happy to help 🙂

Education building doors are locked 10 minutes after church service begins for added security…so give yourself a little extra time this first day. Teachers will be available to offer assistance to parents and children with registration, questions or any special needs – just introduce yourself and they’ll take it from there. Thanks so much and we look forward to meeting you!

Celebrate Michaelmas with Chili Feed & Games – Sunday, Sept. 29th

In honor of our annual Michaelmas celebration, we cordially invite you to join us on Sunday, September 29th for some family fun and tasty chili feed.

WHAT IS MICHAELMAS?

It is the celebration named for Saint Michael, the Archangel, who is usually represented in armor trampling Lucifer, symbolized as a dragon. Also known as the Feast of Saint Michael, Feast of the Archangels and the Feast of Saint Michael And All Angels. It was a holy day of obligation in the Western or Roman Catholic church up until the 18th century.

The roots of Michaelmas can be traced all the way back to the third century and is oftentimes associated with the season of gathering in the final harvest. It has undergone a variety of expressions over time. Today, we continue this tradition in our own unique way as we celebrate harvest time and the slaying of our personal demons.

CHILI FEED & GAMES

Family Ministry will host the annual Chili Feed in Cowans Hall with games of skill & daring to follow in the courtyard after lunch.
