Salisbury Cathedral Choir – Choral Workshop & Concert: Mar. 25th

UK CHOIR TO PERFORM AT ST. THOMAS

St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Sunnyvale announces a treat for music fans: The Salisbury Cathedral Choir will travel from the UK to perform in the San Francisco Bay Area during the month of March.

We are thrilled to host this talented choral group at St. Thomas Sunnyvale and invite you to join us for a concert of beautiful music.

MORNING CHORAL WORKSHOP: OPEN TO ALL PARISHES IN THE DIOCESE

There’s also a wonderful opportunity for choral singers throughout the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real to participate in a morning Choral Workshop with the Salisbury Cathedral Choir.

The workshop will be offered from 11:30 AM – 12:30 AM with lunch to follow. The cost is $10 per participant and lunch is included.

Added Bonus: Those attending the workshop will be able to sing with the visiting choir during their afternoon concert. Mark your calendars for a truly unforgettable experience!

Mass on the Grass & Parish Picnic – June 12th

We cordially invite you to join us for “Mass on the Grass” followed by the annual Parish Picnic in celebration of the completion of our program year!

TIME & PLACE

There is only one worship this day as we gather together for “Mass on the Grass” at 9:30 am across the street from Saint Thomas in Washington Park’s lawn area.

Please bring a blanket or lawn chairs for added comfort. A limited number of chairs from the church will also be available.

Following the service, we will gather together in the designated picnic area where we will have some reserved tables, enjoying some chit-chat, snacks and beverages as we fire up the barbecue and finish setting up. We’ll ring the bell signaling when lunch is ready!

WHAT’S ON THE MENU

We will be ready with beef hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. Being mindful of some dietary restrictions, we will also offer salmon, turkey, and veggie burgers as an alternative. Condiments and drinks will be also be included.

BRING A DISH TO SHARE

There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex at the back of the sanctuary. Place a check in the box corresponding with a requested food options: coffee, doughnuts, snacks, appetizers, salads, side dishes, and desserts. It’s so much more interesting when we share!

FUN & GAMES

Enjoy worship, fellowship, good eats, fun and games or just take a breather and soak up the great outdoors. There’s something for everyone!

Fundraising Kick-Off – May 1st

FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT

Lunch will begin with a tapas-style potluck in Cowans Hall and the Alpha Omega Patio immediately following the 10:30 am service. PEP will be grilling a variety of shish kabobs for the buffet and drinks will also be provided. Please bring a tapas dish (suitable for eating on small plates) to share. There is no potluck format, so your dish can be anything from an appetizer to a dessert. If you can, please bring a favorite ethnic dish to reflect our rich cultural diversity. The choir will be on hand to provide some lively entertainment and engage you in some audience participation.

THE WHYS & WHEREFORES

After lunch, members of the Fundraising Committee will describe why fundraising is needed, and the campaign goal. We need community involvement to make our fundraisers both enjoyable and successful. Please come hear about the many opportunities available for your creative input and participation!

Shrove Sunday Pancake Brunch – Feb 7th

The season of Lent comes early this year. Before we enter into this time of moderation and reflection leading up to Holy Week and Easter, let’s enjoy an abundance of treats at our annual Shrove Sunday community pancake feast!

WHEN

Sunday, February 7th with seatings at 9:00 a.m. and noon after each of the morning services.

SUPPORT THE BOY SCOUTS

Our Boy Scout Troop 404 will again be assisting us in serving hot off-the-griddle pancakes with a side of ham and all the fixings plus juice, coffee, and tea. We will definitely have enough food on hand for second portions and possibly thirds.

Suggested donations for the pancake brunch are $2 per person, $1 per child (age 6-12), or $5 per family.

Proceeds after expenses will go to the Boy Scouts’ Activities Fund.

So come one and all to enjoy warm fellowship and hot cakes, and to show your support for the scouts at Saint Thomas!

Remember to bring Pennies for Peace as part of the Sunday School stewardship.

Where to Make Donations?

The children will have a special box for the collection located at the “Big Red Doors” exiting the sanctuary of the church after each service. See Directions and Campus Map.

Where will the Donations Go?

Donations collected will be sent to an organization that works for peace in the world. Family Ministry to select the organization, check back for more details!

How Long will this last?

Donations will be collected through Easter 2015.
