Devotional materials to accompany you on your Lenten journey are available on the table in the narthex (located immediately to your right after entering the red entrance doors to the sanctuary).

Instant Theater – Feb 14, 21, 28 & Mar 6, 13

ADULT EDUCATION IN LENT

Welcome to Instant Theater – The Gospel of John and experience the story of Jesus revealed in a creative and wonderful way!

WHEN: The first five Sundays of Lent, beginning February 14th.

WHERE: St. Thomas Episcopal Church – in the Library

WHAT TIME?: at 12:15 PM

DURATION: Each session will run approximately 45 minutes.

SPECIFICS

The Gospel According to St. John introduces Jesus as the Son of God, Lord and Savior through a number of dramatic encounters between Jesus and other characters in the story, including Jesus’ mother at Cana, Nicodemus, The Women of Samaria, The Man born Blind, and Lazarus, Martha and Mary.

We will read these stories as small theater pieces as a way of discovering new depths to the Good News of Jesus as found in John’s Gospel.

Theater, acting out a story, is a profound way of learning, and it is also fun…Come join us!

Adult Ed: Wed. Evening Forum – Feb 17, 24, Mar 2, 9 & 16

ADULT EDUCATION IN LENT

As a part of our adult formation and education opportunities, we are offering a Wednesday evening Forum on Solitude & Compassion in the church sanctuary during the season of Lent.

SET ASIDE THIS TIME & SPACE

February 17, 24, March 2, 9, 16; 7:30 pm in the church sanctuary, see Directions and Campus Map

YOU’RE IN FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL

Solitude and Compassion meditation will be facilitated by Colleen, based on the book by Gus Gordon. Different compassion exercises and styles of mindfulness and meditation will be offered each week.

Each session will open with an exercise of settling in and easing into awareness, and close with prayers of loving-kindness, forgiveness, letting go (casting our cares upon God), or similar themes.

Participants are welcomed and encouraged to express interests in specific styles of meditation and/or contemplative prayer, to be integrated.
