As you’re cleaning and organizing at home during this quarantine time, consider making a donation in support of St. Thomas during our annual Goodwill Donation Drive.

*Goodwill uses the largest E-waste recycler in the US, which exceeds environmental standards and does not process items overseas. E-waste includes items like monitors, hard drives, audio equipment, VCRs & DVD players, cameras, phones, and printers.

EXCLUDED ITEMS

*Goodwill will NOT accept furniture, mattresses, exercise equipment, large appliances, car parts, food, carpet, construction debris, liquids of any kind, baby strollers or car seats, pet-related items, or items over 50 lbs.

PICK-UPS & DROP-OFFS

More information regarding drop-offs and pick-ups to come.  In the meantime, please set aside your donations at home  – we’re not able to store anything at the church just yet.

MAKE A DAY OF IT

We’re looking forward to making a day of it and (if the county says we’re able) hope to host a Bounce house for kids and a book sale as well.

Annual Greening of the Church – Saturday, Nov. 30th @ 10 AM

The greening of the church prepares our space for Advent. The greenery signifies the enduring nature of life even in the darkest of times.

ADVENT-TIDE EVENTS

Let’s gather together Saturday, November 30th @ 10:00 AM to decorate our church! Be part of putting hope forward…

On Sunday, December 1, the rest of the congregation will have a chance to finish where we leave off by adding tree ornaments as part of the First Sunday of Advent liturgy.

Farewell BBQ for Michael – July 31st

HOSTED BY PARISH EVENT PLANNERS (PEP)

We are so honored to throw a farewell barbecue for Rev. Michael. Although we’re sad to see him go, we wish him well on his journey as he continues to pursue his career path. Thank you for walking with us!

WHEN & WHERE

Sunday, July 31st immediately following mid-morning (10:30 AM) service.

The party will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church – in Cowans Hall and on the Alpha Omega Patio, see Directions & Campus Map.

THE GOOD STUFF

PEP will be grilling hot dogs (mmmm good!) and you can have them plain or smothered with chili, sauerkraut, pickles and mustard or any combination thereof!

VEGETARIANS: No Fear – we will have meatless hot dogs available.

ALL: We’ll also have an assortment of beverages and be serving cake for dessert!

BRING SOMETHING TO SHARE

To make it even more special, please bring something to share – we suggest snacks, salads, or veggie side dishes. It’s time to celebrate!

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE

This will be Michael’s last day as our Deacon, so let’s send him off with good food, fun and fellowship in appreciation for his ministry. Get your buns, meat & veggie hot dogs there!

Mass on the Grass & Parish Picnic – June 12th

We cordially invite you to join us for “Mass on the Grass” followed by the annual Parish Picnic in celebration of the completion of our program year!

TIME & PLACE

There is only one worship this day as we gather together for “Mass on the Grass” at 9:30 am across the street from Saint Thomas in Washington Park’s lawn area.

Please bring a blanket or lawn chairs for added comfort. A limited number of chairs from the church will also be available.

Following the service, we will gather together in the designated picnic area where we will have some reserved tables, enjoying some chit-chat, snacks and beverages as we fire up the barbecue and finish setting up. We’ll ring the bell signaling when lunch is ready!

WHAT’S ON THE MENU

We will be ready with beef hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. Being mindful of some dietary restrictions, we will also offer salmon, turkey, and veggie burgers as an alternative. Condiments and drinks will be also be included.

BRING A DISH TO SHARE

There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex at the back of the sanctuary. Place a check in the box corresponding with a requested food options: coffee, doughnuts, snacks, appetizers, salads, side dishes, and desserts. It’s so much more interesting when we share!

FUN & GAMES

Enjoy worship, fellowship, good eats, fun and games or just take a breather and soak up the great outdoors. There’s something for everyone!

Shrove Sunday Pancake Brunch – Feb 7th

The season of Lent comes early this year. Before we enter into this time of moderation and reflection leading up to Holy Week and Easter, let’s enjoy an abundance of treats at our annual Shrove Sunday community pancake feast!

WHEN

Sunday, February 7th with seatings at 9:00 a.m. and noon after each of the morning services.

SUPPORT THE BOY SCOUTS

Our Boy Scout Troop 404 will again be assisting us in serving hot off-the-griddle pancakes with a side of ham and all the fixings plus juice, coffee, and tea. We will definitely have enough food on hand for second portions and possibly thirds.

Suggested donations for the pancake brunch are $2 per person, $1 per child (age 6-12), or $5 per family.

Proceeds after expenses will go to the Boy Scouts’ Activities Fund.

So come one and all to enjoy warm fellowship and hot cakes, and to show your support for the scouts at Saint Thomas!
