Sunday School – Dec. 9th

NURSERY CARE*

Nursery care with Tina is available for infants and children (up to 4 years*) during the 10:30 AM morning service. The Nursery is located in the Education Building.

READINGS

This week’s readings for the Second Sunday of Advent: Canticle 4, The First Reading is Baruch 5:1-9, The Second Reading is Philippians 1:3-11, and the Gospel is Luke 3:1-6.

PAGEANT REHEARSAL REMINDER

Pageant Rehearsal will be held following Communion in the Church. Please remain in church so we can quickly begin. ALL CHARACTERS are requested to attend. Shepherds who have not yet been fitted for a costume will do so today following the rehearsal.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

**Dress Rehearsal will be held on Saturday December 15th at 9:00 AM in the church. We will be finished after we have been through the Pageant twice and have rehearsed the Curtain Call.

CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE

The children created ornaments that will be sold at the Christmas Boutique to raise funds for Saint Thomas. Join us at the Christmas Boutique on December 9th in Cowans Hall.

Sunday School – Oct. 28th

STARTS @ 10:30 AM

This Sunday the younger students (ages 4*-7) will meet in the Heart classroom with Bora and older students (ages 8-12) will meet with Pam in the Treasure Room – both classrooms are located in the Education Building.

This week’s readings are: Psalm 34:1-8, The First Lesson is Job 42:1-6,10-17, the Second Lesson is Hebrews 7:23-28 and the Gospel is Mark 10:46-52.

We will also practice the readings for next week.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

The annual Christmas Pageant will be held on December 16th. Sign-ups are available now on the back table located in the Narthex (at the back of the church sanctuary).

PARENT REMINDERS

All Saints Day (November 4th) will include story presentations by the Sunday School classes – please let Sue know if your children will be coming that day. It helps her get students plugged-in and participating.

Sunday School – Feb. 4th

This Sunday we will begin with Pastor Salying’s Super Fun Awesome Chapel with Surprisingly Serious Content in Cowans Hall at 9:30 AM.

Come join us for an engaging time that’s full of exploration, adventure and fun learning together. Teacher Pam will present a special lesson on the Reformation. Refreshments will follow and time to get acquainted with new friends and familiar ones.

SUNDAY SCHOOL – 10:30 AM

Morning will continue with a creative project in the Smith Education Building. We will relocate to the Heart Classroom there just before 10:30 AM. Sunday School classes will be combined so that everyone (children ages 4* – 12) can participate together.

You’re in for a special treat – come join us for Pastor Salying’s Super Awesome Fun Chapel held in Cowans Hall beginning at 9:30 am.

Following chapel, Sunday School class will be held in the Heart Classroom at 10:30 am. We will view a video and create an art response to the topic which is Noah’s and his Ark.

Sunday School – “All Saints Day” Nov. 6th

SUNDAY SCHOOL – 10:30 AM

All classes (ages 4-6; 7-12) will meet in the Smith Educational Building, in the “Heart” classroom. We will have a combined lesson on All Saints Day, play related games and also have the regular Lectionary lesson.

Time will be set aside to discuss the Christmas Pageant and tap student interest in the roles available for participation. We will also prepare for the Bishop’s Visit the following Sunday, November 13th and rehearse saint readings for the service.

UPCOMING EVENTS & CLASS SCHEDULE
Sunday, November 6th

At the conclusion of each worship service, bags will be offered to the congregation to take home to fill with canned food, powdered milk, and more in support of the Sunday School’s outreach service project – Thanksgiving Food Ingathering – Canned Food Drive.

Also please remember animals-the pets that overnight with the homeless at the shelter – food, blankets, towels or toys are also a welcome gift for them. Look for a special box in the Narthex that the children have lovingly decorated and designated for treasured pets.

The Sunday School will begin collecting canned food for the “Thanksgiving Food Drive” the following Sunday. Please bring any donations to St. Thomas by or before Sunday, November 13th. These will be distributed prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Sunday, November 13th

The Bishop will visit Saint Thomas and we will be having a Family Eucharist. Children will attend the Worship Service with their families. Childcare will be held in the Back of the Church with Tina. We will be receiving food donated to Second Harvest and the children will help with the collection at the door to the church.

Looking Ahead

Over the next few Sundays we will also be taking student input on the Christmas Pageant. We will also begin creating ornaments to decorate a Christmas tree for the upcoming holiday event “The Greening of the Church” on Sunday, December 18th that will include the Christmas Pageant and Soup Luncheon. Plan now to join in on the fun and festivities.
