Episcopal Relief & Development’s Response to Hurricane Dorian

Episcopal Relief & Development continues to support dioceses in the path [and aftermath] of Hurricane Dorian…

“Disasters have three phases: rescue, relief and recovery,” said Katie Mears, Senior Director for Episcopal Relief & Development’s US Disaster Program. “…We are still in the very early stages of this crisis. Impacted dioceses are prepared to respond and begin assessing damage as soon as it is safe to do so.”

PRAY: Please pray for all those affected by disasters, especially those most recently in the path of the Hurricane Dorian. So many are experiencing personal loss, hardship, barriers and inconvenience in ways that can seem unimaginable to the average person.

Though efforts are being made for continued operations to rescue and restore areas affected, some are just in the beginning stages of a very long process. Church communities often serve as a place people turn to for comfort and assistance at a local level.

GIVE: One of the best things we can do is to GIVE! One of Christ’s core commandments to His followers is to love thy neighbor as thyself. It’s important that we reach out to care for the most vulnerable members and neighbors of these communities. Please consider making a financial donation. Using the following link – submit all contributions directly to Hurricane Relief Fund.

In addition to the online donations link, St. Thomas will make available leaflets/church bulletin inserts on the back table of the Narthex (just inside the church sanctuary’s double red doors) with instructions on how to make a donation in support Episcopal Relief & Development and its response to Hurricane Dorian.

Your donations will help provide support to the Church and other local partners as they provide critical emergency assistance to those in greatest need.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that we Thank You for any and all contributions to Episcopal Relief & Development. 🙂

Parish Work Day~Fun Day – Oct. 8th

Please put Saturday, October 8th on your calendars. After a period of hiatus, we will be gathering together for a traditional parish work day – “Work Day-Fun Day” to build a working fellowship with one another.

That’s October 8, 9 AM to 2 PM, with lunch!

It’s the equivalent of spring cleaning — we’ll call it season cleaning…that time when we spruce up our worship space and grounds in preparation for Advent and the holidays to follow.

e-Scrip Info Sessions – Apr. 10th & May 22nd

Come and learn what’s new with the e-Scrip program (and there are lots of new things).

Informational sessions will be held April 10th and May 22nd following both the 8:00 and 10:30 services. We will also have information available at the May 1st BBQ.

St. Thomas provides people with a place to grow in faith, hope and love. In addition, we offer use of our facilities and volunteers in support of community service. We do this by partnering with organizations like Al Anon, Faith in Action Silicon Valley Rotating Shelter, Our Daily Bread, and more to offer a welcome meeting place, a hot meal, a hospitable stay and a fresh start to those with hopes of a better life. That’s only a little glimpse of the things we do. We welcome your support in helping us keep up the good work!

Sign up for the eScrip program – have contributions made to “Saint Thomas Episcopal Church” whenever you shop at one of the participating online or local merchants, dine-out or book travel. Many provide savings to you through promotional offers and coupons in addition to giving back.

For more details about how it works, follow the link to HOW IT WORKS.

Escrip hosts an Online Mall with a variety of categories to choose from including apparel & shoes, auto & travel, computers & software, flowers & gifts, gourmet & grocery, office & school supplies, pet supplies and many more.

A few of the participating online & local merchants include the Apple Store, Amazon.com, Sur La Table, Safeway.com; Draeger’s, Lunardi’s, and Molly Stone’s.

To learn about more ways to earn with eSCRIP, come to one of our informational sessions on two Sundays: April 10th or May 22nd. Inforamtion will also be made available during the May 1st BBQ. For those web-surfers in our midst, you may also follow the link to WHERE TO EARN.
