Family Worship – Sunday, Dec. 23rd

There is no Sunday School today. Instead we will be having a wonderful service at 10:30 AM that invites our children’s participation with the full congregation as we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent.

We will light form a procession followed by the lighting of candles on the Advent Wreath in observance of the 4th Sunday in Advent when all candles are lit.

Parents: Please have all children gather in the Narthex (located in the back of the church) to process down to the front where the Advent Wreath is located. After we light the candles, children return to their families to enjoy a service of Lessons and Carols.

Stories from the bible will be told followed by the singing of carols, an English tradition. Christmas coloring packets will be handed out to the children that has stories about global Christmas traditions.

Everyone is invited to take an ornament that the children have made and place these on the trees. Please join us for this event.

NURSERY CARE*

Nursery care with Tina is available for infants and children (up to 4 years*) during the 10:30 AM morning service. The Nursery is located in the back of the church to the left of the double door entry.

READINGS

These are the readings for the Fourth Sunday in Advent: Canticle 3, The First Reading is Micah 5:2-5a, The Second Reading is Hebrews 10:5-10 and the Gospel is Luke 1:39-45.

MEMORY VERSE

“The Lord has blessed you because you believed that he will keep his promise.” – Luke 1:45 (CEV – Contemporary English Version).

The story of the Birth of Jesus will be told and we’ll sing Carols. Everyone is invited to help to build our Stable Scene as the story progresses.

All are welcome to come help us remember the birth of Jesus, who came to us more than 2000 years ago.

EVENING CAROL & CANDLELIGHT SERVICE @ 9:30 PM.

Please join us for a lovely and reverent candlelight service that celebrates this time we remember the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ’s birth.

CHRISTMAS DAY @ 10:00 AM
We have a combined service that brings together the full community to celebrate the love and the joy of Christmas and the reason for this sacred season.

Greening of the Church – Sunday, Dec. 17th

Calling all soup lovers, decorators, and carolers!

Join us on Sunday, December 17th following the annual Christmas pageant for a community soup and salad potluck in Cowans Hall. For guidance, see Directions & Campus Map.

CALLING ALL CREATIVE COOKS!

Would you like to share a crockpot/slow cooker full of your favorite HOT soup (that serves eight people if possible)? Be it chicken noodle, vegan butternut squash or zesty Italian meatball, bring something tasty to share!

If salad’s more your thing, consider bringing a bowl of your latest leafy creations or even salad toppings, such as shredded carrots, corn, cherry tomatoes, chopped peppers, garbanzo beans, croutons, etc. to add variety to our buffet.

We will keep everyone’s crockpots and slow cookers plugged in during the service to keep the soups warm.

For those planning to share their culinary talents, please add your soup or salad contribution to the list at the back of church.

GREENING OF THE CHURCH

Following our meal, we’ll regroup at the church to participate in the third-annual community “greening,” of the church – hanging wreaths and decorating the tree.

The choir will lead a carol sing-along. This group experience following our Christmas pageant is sure to start the holiday week in a spirited way.

Calling all creative cooks: would you like to share a crockpot/slow cooker full of your favorite HOT soup (that serves 8 if possible)? Be it chicken noodle, vegan butternut squash or zesty Italian meatball – your good eats are greatly appreciated!

We will keep everyone’s crockpots and slow cookers plugged in during the service to keep the soups warm.

TO SHARE

Please add your soup to the list in the back of church. PEP (Parish Event Planners) is providing salad and dressing.

Not a soup chef? Then please bring a topping for the salad (i.g. shredded carrots, corn, cherry tomatoes, chopped peppers, garbanzo beans, croutons, etc.).

Christmas Eve Services – Dec. 24th

Please come and join us for one of our Christmas Eve services this Wednesday, December 24th – there’s something for everyone…

Family Service – 4:00 PM

Early enough for families to gather for worship before tucking in the little ones.

Carols – 9:30 PM

Warm your hearts by lifting up voices in song with Carols of great joy!

Christmas Eve Service & Reception – 10:00 PM

Celebrate the Holy Eucharist on this special night. Then warm up with hot apple cider, holiday cookies and fellowship at a sparkling reception to follow in the Narthex; see Directions and Campus Map
