Vacation Bible School – June 23, 30; July 7 & Aug 11

This summer we will hold Vacation Bible School (VBS) Camp sessions the following Sunday mornings: June 23rd, June 30th, July 7th and August 11th. On these days, regular Sunday School will be replaced with VBS Camp activities.

REMINDER: On VBS Camp days, our time together begins at 9:30 AM and ends when the children rejoin the church for communion.

WHAT’S IN STORE?

VBS Camp will consist of stories, games (both inside and outside), arts and crafts, science, fun, creating and eating snacks, all based on stories from the Bible.

LAST SESSION OF VBS ON AUGUST 11th

Plans for the fourth and final session of the 2019 VBS Camp will be announced here prior to August 11th. Please stay tuned!

READINGS

Visit this page as August 11th approaches for a list of that day’s appointed readings.

MEMORY VERSE

“Tell everyone on this earth to shout praises to God!” ~ Psalms 100:1 (Contemporary English Version).

NURSERY CARE*

Childcare will be available with Tina in the Education Building Nursery. This service is offered for infants and children (up to 4 years*) during the 10:30 AM worship service.

For campus locations, please see Directions and Campus Map.

NEW STUDENTS – FIRST VISIT

Hello Parents and Guardians – if this is your student’s first time with us, please arrive a few minutes early to register your child.

We follow safe church practices, so its important that we know who’s in attendance, have parents(s) or guardian(s) check children in-and-out, and provide us us with any important details including contact info in the event of an emergency. Teachers are happy to help 🙂

Education building doors are typically locked 10 minutes after church service begins for added security…so give yourself a little extra time this first day. Teachers will be available to offer assistance to parents and children with registration, questions or any special needs – just introduce yourself and they’ll take it from there. Thanks so much and we look forward to meeting you!

Please keep in mind that on days when there are special events like VBS Camp and planned indoor/outdoor activities, security procedures may change. The teachers in charge will direct students accordingly on those days.

Now is the time to start planning for the St. Thomas “Family Fun Camping Trip” and reserve your campsite!

WHEN

9/15 (Friday) – 9/17 (Sunday)

LOCATION

Memorial Park in San Mateo County: 9500 Pescadero Creek Road, Loma Mar, CA 94021

WHAT TO BRING & CAMPING OPTIONS

This is an overnight tent camping experience. You must bring your own tent, cooking supplies and other camping related equipment.

You may choose to camp for 1-night, 2-nights or just come on Saturday for daytime use.

COMMUNAL DINNER ON SATURDAY: St. Thomas Family Ministry will host a BBQ dinner on Saturday. Please bring a dish to share for the BBQ dinner.

Other than the Saturday BBQ, you are responsible for all your meals during the camping, so plan accordingly.

RESERVE A CAMPSITE ASAP

Reserve your campsite as soon as possible. This can be done via online at https://secure.itinio.com/sanmateo/memorial-park# or by calling the San Mateo County Parks reservation desk at (650) 363-4021.

When making a reservation, be sure to choose the correct camping dates (check in on 9/15 Friday and checkout on 9/17 Sunday) and the correct park (Memorial Park).

See below for the map of the Memorial Park camping site. You may reserve any one of the available sites but try to stay close to the tent sites #10-29 (circled in the map below), so St. Thomas members can be more or less together.

Also many of the tent sites are large enough to accommodate two smaller tents, so if you are a single camper, you may want to coordinate with another single parish member and share one tent site.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Once you have booked your camping site, please alert Bora or Contact Us with Family Camp listed in the subject line. We would like to know how much food to cook for the Saturday dinner.

Also if you are planning to come on Saturday for daytime use only, please let Bora know as well.
