This year’s stewardship theme is “Transforming Generosity.” As we begin to ponder what this means, I invite you first to see how generous God has been to you. Where is your abundance? During our Stewardship Season, from October 7 to November 25, take some time each day to note a generosity given to you.
I believe we can transform our generosity when we transform our perception of our lives, when we view our lives with gratitude. In such a way, we reset our priorities for what is most important.
As I look over the last year at St. Thomas, I am very grateful for our Dream Project and your involvement in it. Since September 2017, we’ve worked prayerfully as a church to set new priorities by dreaming about how St. Thomas is being called in our world. This culminated in 2018 with our Dream Statements in Pentecost and Offering of Words–words that are prayerful meditations on our Dream Statements–at Back to Church Sunday. The vestry is now prepared to write a new mission statement, setting our priorities for the next stage of our life together. Thank you for giving your hearts so generously to this journey.
I invite you to continue to be a part of this generous transformation by supporting St. Thomas’ annual budget. Please join me in pledging to sustain our church day to day. If you can, please consider increasing your pledge so that we can justly meet the needs of our church. Our Stewardship Brunch will be on October 28, and our Ingathering of Pledges will be November 4th.
I look forward to working with you for a new year of transformation and generosity.
Faithfully,
Pastor Salying Wong, Pastor

WAYS TO SUPPORT ST. THOMAS
Make a Pledge
Making a pledge to St. Thomas’s annual budget allows us to serve as a place of hope, healing, and restoration within the Sunnyvale community and beyond.
Legacy Gift
In addition to annual support, consider making a legacy gift from your will or estate that reflects your beliefs and care for St. Thomas. You don’t have to be a Rockefeller or the founder of Facebook to do this. Your legacy gift helps sustain St. Thomas’ mission and purpose going forward in the years to come.
You may contact Pr. Salying (pastorsalying@stthomas-svale.us) or our treasurer, Jim Cobb, (finance@stthomas-svale.org) for more information on how to pledge or leave a legacy gift.
Other Ways to Contribute Financially
eScrip: Sign up for the eScrip program – have contributions made to Saint Thomas whenever you shop at one of the participating merchants and restaurants, including Safeway. The good news is that it’s free to you. The participating merchants and restaurants provide the contributions. Follow the links to obtain a current list of participating restaurants and merchants eScrip Family of Merchants and eScrip Dining.
AmazonSmile is another creative way to give.
- Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice – consider “St. Thomas Episcopal Church – Sunnyvale, CA“
- AmazonSmile is the same Amazon, same products, same prices and same service.
- Support us by starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com.
As with any form of giving, it is a gift without any strings attached or an expectation placed on the person or family. It is our response to God’s invitation for us to participate in a real and practical way in the work and life of Saint Thomas.
