Sixth Sunday in Easter

May 9, 2021

The Gentile Pentecost by the Rev. Salying Wong

Chapter 10 in the Book of Acts is the pivotal chapter; the story of Cornelius and Peter is the pivotal story. Here, the ultimate unimagined dream of the gospel reaches fulfillment–the joining of Gentile to God’s covenant with Israel. The Gentiles speak in tongues and Peter hears his own intimate language–he hears the gospel that he was preaching spoken back to him from the most unlikely of sources. Where can we, the church and personally, hear the gospel preached back to us from the most unlikely of places?
