Second Sunday after Pentecost

June 6, 2021 Proper 5

Emmanuel Power

by the Rev. Salying Wong

Jesus gets it from his family and from the religious authorities in Mark 3. His family thinks he’s insane and the authorities say he’s in league with Satan. Jesus uses this encounter to disclose the nature of the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom of broad mercy, where everyone can be forgiven. The only ones who cannot be forgiven are those who reject this mercy and say it is of the devil. How might we participate in this wide mercy of God? How might we learn to trust in it more and more?
