Season of Creation: celebrating our kinship with all creation
The Season of Creation is an ecumenical movement in which Christians around the world take time out to ponder God’s beloved creation and our roles and relationships within it. It will be from September 7 to October 11.
As part of the beginning of the Season of Creation, on Sunday, September 7, you are invited to bring in any of the harvest of your garden to share for a special blessing. You may distribute your harvest in the hall during coffee hour.
Highlights of this multi-week celebration include:
· Special music and a sermon series on this theme for the Sundays.
· In lieu of the regular Wednesday service, we will join the diocese for Noonday Prayer at 12pm, focusing on this theme from September 3 to October 1. Here is the link to join Wednesday worship: https://tinyurl.com/5n7nnzb9
· Daily Devotions by email – these will highlight different keystone species in their newly-designated Province One EcoRegion. Each email will include a photo, a brief description of the species for the day, a few thoughts on how the species reflects our image of God, and a closing prayer. Sign up for this daily devotion here.
· An outdoor and in-person only (no Zoom this Sunday) animal and garden blessing on the Alpha-Omega patio on the Sunday after the Feast of St. Francis and St. Clare, October 5.
· The Season will culminate in a local birding expedition led by Pr. Salying and Andrew on October 11, which is also World Migratory Bird Day.
Please join us us in celebration of God’s creation and this annual recognition of our responsibility and stewardship of God’s greatest gifts.
