A little about our Guest Speaker
Venerable Pomnyun Sunim, a respected Buddhist Monk and activist, is the founder and guiding Zen master of Jungo Society, which was established in 1988 in South Korea to facilitate self-cultivation through volunteerism. He is the founder and chairman of Join Together Society, an international relief agency with offices worldwide including North Korea; Eco Buddha, which has led an ecological awareness campaign; and Good Friends for Peace, Human Rights, and Refugee Issues. He is also the chairman of The Peace Foundation in Seoul, which supports policy research and analysis aimed at Humanitarian aid to famine victims in North Korea. He was worked extensively to supply humanitarian aid to famine victims in North Korea and defend the human rights of North Korean refugees in China (for full biography, visit www.jungtosociety.org).
