Confirmation is a choice a young person or adult makes for deeper commitment to the work of Christ in community. Many people were baptized as infants or children and initiated into the community of faith, which vouchsafed to support them in the life of faith. Confirmation becomes then a very personal decision in greater commitment in the shared priesthood of all believers.
Confirmation is a rite presided over by the bishop and is done when the bishop visits the congregation each year or every other year. All teens and adults are invited to examine their Christian walk and discern whether confirmation is for them. There are the options of confirmation, re-affirmation and reception (from another tradition).
